Last Night I Dreamed a Circus, Maya Gottfried and Robert Rahway Zakanitch
In my dream I can fly and juggle and twist and twirl. In my dream the big top beckons the spotlight shines and I am… spectacular!
After a childhood filled with birthday trips to the circus, Maya Gottfried was sufficiently smitten to interview for a circus job. But in the end she decided to put down some roots and adopt a pair of cats instead – “probably easier to take care of than an elephant!” A graduate of Bard College, Ms. Gottfried lives and works in New York City. This is her first book for young readers.
Robert Rahway Zakanitch grew up in New Jersey and currently lives and paints in New York City. A fine artist, especially noted for his watercolors, Mr. Zakanitch was a leader in the Pattern and Decoration movement. He was awarded a Guggenheim Foundation grant in 1995, and his work is represented in many public collections, including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Denver Art Museum, and the Whiney Museum of American Art.
