It is our mission to support our authors through every step of the publishing process, nurturing relationships between publishers and our authors while offering extensive editorial guidance, from content development to copy editing.
We represent books on the fine and performing arts, adult fiction and non-fiction, memoir, children’s picture and chapter books, as well as middle grade and young adult literature.
Employing our wide network of domestic and international agents,
publishers, and packagers, we are in an ideal position to develop and execute each
individual client’s project.
Our client list is intentionally small and select to maintain a high level of personal involvement and quality.
Ann Tanenbaum is a veteran of the publishing industry with over 40 years of experience. Over the course of her career, she has held editorial positions at The Viking Press and Random House as well as executive positions at Harry N. Abrams Inc., Doubleday International, and Newsweek Books.
Ann established Tanenbaum International Publishing Services in 1980 as a literary agency and consulting firm. With a focus on strategic alliances between authors and both international and North American publishers, Ann is interested in projects that artfully combine the word and the image. In addition to representing books on seasoned gallery artists and museums, Ann has a depth of experience in the children’s book market and accepts submissions for picture, middle grade chapter, and young adult books.
Ella Snow joined Tanenbaum International after graduating from Bard College with a degree in Written Arts, and a concentration in narrative nonfiction. She has worked for a number of literary agencies, and has provided editorial guidance on many children's books, young adult and adult novels, as well as serious non-fiction books.
Ella works alongside authors in developing their ideas, building a narrative framework for those ideas, and strengthening the written voice. She is passionate about character driven narratives, unique in content and style.
"For over two decades I have successfully collaborated with Tanenbaum International Literary Agencry on marketing and publishing projects for Macmillan Publishing Company and Primedia, Inc.
I have found Ann Tanenbaum's creative development services of the highest editorial quality in format and articulated editorial content addressed to core markets to be served. Ann continues to create and publish university level projects in the fine and applied arts for the world market.
This is no accident. It is the product of Ann Tanenbaum's proven insight, understanding and informed taste that skillfully cultivate literary, marketing, and licensing opportunities for choice clients in international and domestic publishing."
"Thanks to Ann Tanenbaum we were connected with brilliant author Sue DiCicco, whose poetry and lively illustrations were a perfect fit for our museum's first children's book, Adventures in Asian Art. Ann immediately understood how this book underscored our mission to creatively inspire audiences of all ages.
"Ann Tanenbaum and Ella Snow are supreme professionals. It has been a pleasure working with them."
