For more than 30 years Major Garrett has reported from the frontlines of the nation’s pressing issues, doggedly chasing and breaking news stories. He began his illustrious journalism career as a police and general assignment reporter, and has since covered Congress for two major magazines and served as White House correspondent for three television networks. In 2018, Major Garrett was named CBS News’ chief Washington correspondent. Garrett is also the host of both “The Takeout,” and “The Debrief,” weekly multi-platform interview shows on politics, policy and pop culture available on CBSN, top radio stations across the country, and all podcast platforms.
In addition to his extensive and award-winning print and television work for outlets including National Journal, U.S. News and World Report, The Washington Times, The Weekly Standard, and Mother Jones, Major regularly appears on CBS, ABC, MSNBC, CNN, and NPR to discuss his campaign reporting, the White House, and Congress.
His book The Big Truth: Upholding Democracy in the Age of “The Big Lie”, co-authored with David Becker, was published by Diversion Books in September 2022.
